Childs Road Medical Clinic

Your doctor's consultation fees are decided by the time and complexity of your visit and are payable on the day of your appointment.
The Medicare Rebate partially offsets the fees you pay. This may still result in an out-of-pocket cost.
How the Medicare Rebate Work

1
Item Number
After your medical service is complete an item number is designated. The item is determined by the complexity and duration of your visit.
2
The Fee
The fees are set by the item number the GP has applied.
This is payable on the day of your visit.
3
Medicare Rebate
Medicare Rebates cover a range of services.
When you pay on the day, the reception team will ask if they can make an electronic claim for you. If they can, the claim will be processed, and your Medicare Rebate will be paid into the eftpos card you used to pay, or the bank account registered to Medicare.

4
Out Of Pocket
The out-of-pocket cost is the balance left after the Medicare Rebate has been applied.
NON MEDICARE REBATEABLE SERVICES
Some services will not attract a Medicare rebate and the patient will be required to pay privately at the time of consultation.
This may include:

-
Newborn babies who have not yet registered with Medicare.
-
Employment medicals.
-
Consultations/treatment in relation to employment that do not have an accepted claim (insurer claim number must be provided).
-
Travel vaccines/immunisations.
-
Patients who are self-insured (not registered with Medicare).
-
International students or visa holders that are not covered by Medicare.
-
Private phone consultation.
